Financial Proposal Completed
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Whole of the Board of Education, held on Monday, January 15, 2007, the Steering Committee of the Strategic Planning Finance and Partnership Sub-Committee presented the board with the completed financial proposal. This proposal to “Build the Future" reflects our passion for excellence, reflects our commitment to being a partner in the economic and cultural advancement of our community, and reflects our mission to reinvent the district by adapting to a dynamic educational climate. And, it reflects the sub-committee's efforts to create excitement and support among some 20,125 Hodag alumni and friends to help achieve the strategic plan goals.
The Financial Proposal creates a framework to support dynamic programming, high quality facilities, and an exceptional faculty and staff. It identifies an overall plan to provide the highest quality environment for our children and community, and proposes competitive programs for the Rhinelander community that will invigorate our economic development by promoting future growth and prosperity, and attracting future enrollment.
The financial proposal and strategy implementation is a comprehensive review of the School District of Rhinelander. It includes district background information, an analysis of the district's strengths and weaknesses, and a complete analysis of our financial options. The proposal has been thoroughly researched with thousands of hours from school district employees and Rhinelander community and business volunteers in an effort to provide recommendations and solutions for the Rhinelander community to promote the school district into one of the leaders within the state and country in academics, educational and activity opportunities, and economic development. The financial proposal includes a general review of the persistent problems that our aging facilities present, and several proposed solutions to these problems.
Along with the lengthy and detailed proposal, which delineates ways in which the strategic plan can be financed and partnerships can be developed, the Board of Education and the community have also been presented with plans to develop innovative educational opportunities for our students, and ways to improve the district's ability to communicate. All of these proposals can be found in the strategic plan itself, the accountability document, the financial proposal, and other documents generated by the Strategic Planning Innovative Opportunities and Communication sub-committees. All of the Strategic Planning committees are aggressively responding and planning for significant changes in 21st Century public education. Meeting the needs of all children extends beyond state and federal mandates. Funding shortfalls, changing demographics, and emerging populations with exceptional needs require that our children acquire the skills and resources necessary for success in a modern, global economy.

This is an exciting time for our school district, and the completion of the financial proposal indicates the interest and dedication our school district staff.
